The world of natural history has lost one of its most enthusiastic ambassadors with the death of comedian, broadcaster and birdwatcher Bill Oddie, who passed away on July 25, 2026. Best known to many for his irreverent humour on many UK comedy shows, notably ‘The Goodies’, Bill Oddie was equally celebrated for inspiring generations to discover the joy of birdwatching through his television programmes, books and infectious passion for wildlife.
