Curtain falls on Youth Festival Week

The Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) officially closed Youth Festival Week yesterday evening with a vibrant ceremony at the Palais des Sports. Vice‑President Sebastien Pillay and Minister for Youth & Sports Kalsey Belle attended to witness the final showcase of performances.

In his address, SNYC chief executive Michelle Pierre highlighted the historic significance of this year’s festival, noting it was the first time the event had opened on Praslin.

“When the youth speak, SNYC listens,” he declared. “We showcased and touched on so many things – artistic talent, athletics, young professionals, mental health, and even spiritual values.”

Mr Pierre emphasised that the week reflected SNYC’s commitment to keeping youth engaged and thanked the minister, vice‑president, participants, and staff for their support.

“There is often negativity spoken about the youth. For this week, I did not hear a single bit of negativity. That means they are positive. Thank you all for making this a success.”
