Police officers sharpen dark web investigation skills |12 September 2026

Thirteen participants – eight men and five women – have completed a specialised workshop designed to strengthen their ability to understand and investigate criminal activity on the dark web.

The training brought together members of the Seychelles Police Force and German law‑enforcement experts, with a focus on the growing role of digital technology in organised and narcotics‑related crime.

Deputy Commissioner Ron Bonnelame, speaking at the closing ceremony, urged participants to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice.

“We trust that you will apply the knowledge gained with diligence, integrity, discipline, and sound judgement in the performance of your responsibilities,” he said.

He added that the training should reinforce their commitment to excellence and enhance their ability to serve and protect the community.

For participant Collin Figaro, the workshop offered an opportunity to build on knowledge he had already gained through his work in information technology.

He explained that participants were introduced to techniques for tracing digital footprints linked to illegal dealings on the dark web, tracking VPNs, and navigating the hidden side of the internet safely.

“Personally, I already had the basic knowledge from my IT domain, so I was happy to have been given the opportunity to enrich myself,” Mr Figaro said.
