AOSIS pushes for action on island states’ agenda |26 September 2026

Heads of State and Government of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) met in New York on Thursday to review progress on key priorities and address challenges facing Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Held at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Singapore, the meeting was chaired by the President of Palau and AOSIS Chair, Surangel S. Whipps Jr.

The session provided leaders with an opportunity to assess progress on issues affecting SIDS and reinforce AOSIS’ collective position on climate change, ocean governance, sustainable development and international financing.
