MPs receive briefing on Tobacco Bill changes

Officials from the Ministry of Health on Thursday last week hosted a technical session for members of the National Assembly on the proposed Tobacco Control (Amendment) Bill, 2026, with discussions focusing on the regulation of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), commonly known as e-cigarettes or vapes.

The session was led by Public Health Commissioner Dr Jude Gedeon and attended by director general for Public Health Dr Meggy Louange, programme manager for the Unit for Prevention and Control of Cardiovascular Diseases Dr Barathi Viswanathan, chairperson of the National Tobacco Control Board Henry Bastienne, legal draftsperson from the Attorney General’s Office Victor Hill, and Winston Barbe.
