CCCL compensation talks ended without agreement, inquiry told

The Commission of Inquiry into Civil Construction Company Limited (CCCL) heard yesterday that negotiations on a proposed compensation scheme for victims of the December 7, 2023 explosion ended without agreement after the One Voice Association withdrew from discussions in May 2025.
Former transport minister and lawyer Antony Derjacques told the commission he had been asked by President Wavel Ramkalawan to help facilitate discussions because of his legal experience in compensation claims and dispute resolution.
