Former ComPol Ted Barbe testifies before CCCL explosion commission

Former Commissioner of Police (ComPol) Ted Barbe, who now serves as special adviser in the Ministry of Homeland Security & Civil Affairs, yesterday appeared before the Commission of Inquiry into the December 7, 2023, CCCL explosion.

Mr Barbe served as Commissioner of Police from June 2021 to February 2026.

During his testimony, he said he had not signed any licence authorising CCCL to store explosives during his tenure and had not reviewed the legislation governing explosives until after the incident. He also told the Commission that he had never visited the CCCL premises.
