New stamp honours 165 years of Seychelles Postal Service

A piece of Seychelles’ postal history was brought back into the spotlight yesterday evening as Seychelles Postal Services (SPS) launched a commemorative stamp marking 165 years of postal service in the country.
The ceremony, held at the Glacis residence of the ambassador of Japan, coincided with World Post Day and celebrated the longstanding friendship and historical ties between Seychelles and Japan.
The stamp features an early photograph taken by Japanese photographer and traveller Samuel Shinobu Ohashi, whose images documented Seychelles more than a century ago.
