Fina/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series – Fourth Leg |22 June 2019

Damien Payet finishes 47th overall

 

Local swimmer Damien Payet has completed the fourth leg of the Marathon Swim World Series (MSWS), held on June 15 in Balatonfured, Hungary in the 47th overall position, while compatriot Alain Vidot failed to finish within the time limit.

Seychelles NATION learned of the two swimmers’ involvement in the series through a third party as the Seychelles Swimming Association did not inform anyone that they competed in the event and who accompanied them.

Payet completed the race in 2 hours, 06 minutes 40 seconds (2h06:40), or 16 minutes 28 seconds behind race winner Hungarian Kristof Rasovszky who clocked 1h50:12. Ferry Weertman of the Netherlands was second overall in 1h50:19, ahead of Germany’s Soeren Meissner who finished third overall in 1h50:22.

In the women’s race, Brazilian Ana Marcela Cunha continued her winning spree, finishing first in 1h58:45.40, ahead of second-placed Italian Arianna who clocked 1h58:46.20.

Leonie Beck of Germany was third overall in 1 h58:46.80.

The fifth leg of the series is scheduled for July 21 at Lac St. Jean in Canada.
