Update on ransomware incident at DBS |07 October 2020

Process to restore Core Banking System still in progress

The Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS) would like to inform its clients and the public in general that the bank is still undertaking the process to restore its Core Banking System following an attempted ransomware attack on September 7.

DBS is working very closely with its service provider and it is expected that the system will be operational within the next three weeks, the bank said in a press release on Monday.

“We would like to reassure our client that it is business as usual at DBS and that we remain committed to continuing to provide you all with an excellent service despite the incident and the delays to be fully operational as a Bank,” says the press release.

Announcing the attack early last month, the DBS said the affected server had been disconnected from the bank’s network as part of its effort to contain, mitigate and recover from the threat.

The bank confirmed then that no data was lost or compromised during the incident.
