Adverts are for GOP renewal purpose only… |06 March 2021

Please allow me a small space in your newspaper to express my frustration and utter disappointment with several companies posting adverts of vacancies and upon phoning for further information to be told that the adverts are for gainful occupation permit (GOP) renewal purpose only, meaning that despite the government’s call to localise posts and recruit Seychellois, several companies still seek ways to beat the system.

Other instances applications are simply ignored. At least they could have the courtesy to inform that my application has not been successful. I suppose the strategy is to ignore applications and then report to the Ministry of Employment that despite advertising the vacancies no one applied and be granted GOPs.
