LDS message in commemoration of our National Day 2021 |30 June 2021

“Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) joins with all the people of Seychelles in commemorating our National Day, the 45th anniversary of our Independence and birth of the Seychellois nation.

“It is an occasion for us to celebrate what we are as a nation. Although we are one of the smallest countries in the world, we can be proud that we are a modern state and that we have maintained our place in the assembly of nations with dignity.

“Today, Seychelles is a country where everyone enjoys the rights and privileges that nations confer on their citizens. We celebrate that we live in peace and security, that we enjoy basic freedoms and that we share in the opportunities that our country can offer.

“But it is also the occasion when we can renew our determination to defend our sovereignty, to safeguard our democracy, our culture and way of life, and to preserve our natural environment so that future generations can enjoy what we have today. It is the time to pledge our commitment to work together to continue building our nation so that it can provide for all of its children. Only our hard work can secure a good standard of living, education, health care and other social services that ensure our well-being.

“As we continue to fight the Covid pandemic, we express our appreciation to all our health care workers and all those in the front lines of combat for the extra efforts to keep our country safe. Our special thanks go also to those who give their time and effort over and above their paid renumeration to care for others, improve lives in our communities especially for the less fortunate and to make our country a better place.

“LDS extends the best wishes to everyone in Seychelles for a happy celebration of our National Day.”
