‘Strong families are essential for building a better future for our country and our planet’

“Today, Seychelles joins the rest of the world in celebrating the International Day of Families. This year’s theme, ‘Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development’, reminds us that strong families are essential for building a better future for our country and our planet.

“As we face modern-day challenges like changes in our environment, changes in our communities, and changes from external situations and events, we must be more mindful of the roles and responsibilities of our families to ensure we can adapt to these changes. We must, therefore, uphold more of the values that make our families strong and resilient to these changes. Such values include unity and compassion, tolerance, kindness, respect, faith and shared responsibility. It is through family that we teach our children to protect the environment, care for and love each other and others, especially the elderly and the differently abled persons, and live in peace with others and in harmony with nature.
