Wavel Ramkalawan and Ahmed Afif are the presidential and vice-presidential candidates respectively for the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa in the September 2025 elections.

They were nominated and approved by applause during a special convention held by the party yesterday at the International Conference Centre, alongside the 26 proposed members of the National Assembly.

The Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) is the first political party to present its candidates. The over three-and-a-half-hour convention under the theme ‘Stability and Progress for Seychelles’ (Stabilite ek Progre pour Sesel), attracted a large crowd.

When addressing his supporters, Mr Ramkalawan, who is standing for a second five-year mandate, thanked them for trusting him with a second term, stating that Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) was going to retain its seat in the highest office in the land as well as win all the 26 districts. He said the country was on a good path, despite having faced its share of challenges during the past four and a half years.
