Starlink cleared for takeoff in Seychelles

• Satellite Internet set to challenge local providers and connect every island

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the Seychelles Cabinet approved the issuance of an Internet Service Provider (ISP) licence to Starlink – subject to specific conditions – allowing Elon Musk’s satellite broadband service to begin operating in the country.

The decision, announced via the official State House Cabinet business summary, permits Starlink to provide broadband internet services and related products across the 115-island nation. Relevant ministries will now supply operational details, with the Licensing & Technology Authority (LTA) tasked with assessing impacts on existing operators before full rollout.
