‘To stand in healthcare is to choose service above self’
“Today, we honour not only the profession, but the purpose that defines every health worker in Seychelles.
“To stand in healthcare is to choose service above self. It is to answer the call day or night, in moments of urgency, uncertainty, and profound human need. It is to carry responsibility with courage, and to deliver care with both skill and compassion. To every doctor, nurse, allied health professional and support staff, you are the engine of our health system and the foundation of public trust. The strength of our nation’s health is a direct reflection of your dedication.
“We recognise that the demands placed upon you are significant. Long hours, difficult decisions, and the emotional weight of care are part of your daily reality. You do this work not because it is easy, but because it matters.
“As we advance our vision of a New Era of Care – Reform with Heart, let me be clear: this transformation is not about systems alone, it is about you. It is about building a health sector where you are supported, empowered, fairly treated, and given the tools to excel.
“We are committed to strengthening working conditions, investing in your development, and restoring pride and confidence in our health services.
“You are not just delivering care; you are shaping the future of healthcare in Seychelles. And for that, you have my deepest respect and unwavering support.”
