Catherine Rose conquers Kenya’s Mount Suswa
From the volcanic ridges of Kenya to the towering peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda, Seychellois mountaineer Catherine Rose continues to carry the Seychelles flag to new heights.
On May 9, 2026, Ms Rose successfully summited the highest peak of Mount Suswa, a volcanic mountain in Kenya’s Narok County that rises 2,356 metres above sea level. Known for its dramatic double caldera, lava tube caves, and sweeping views across the Great Rift Valley, Mount Suswa offered both beauty and challenge.
For Ms Rose, the climb was more than another summit, it was another chapter in a growing African mountaineering journey that has already seen her conquer peaks across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Mauritius and Nepal.
