The future of education on La Digue took another step forward yesterday with the laying of symbolic foundation stones and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque to mark the start of construction for the new La Digue school.

The ceremony brought together President Patrick Herminie, First Lady Veronique Herminie, Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, Principal Minister Wallace Cosgrow, Minister for Education and Human Resource Development David Pierre, Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands Eveline Rose, and other ministers. Also present were the elected member of the National Assembly for the Inner Islands Hon. Rocky Uranie, government officials, representatives of the education sector, parents, staff, and students.
