Witness raises aviation and security concerns

Robert Louis Marie, a resident of Anse aux Pins, voluntarily appeared before the Commission of Inquiry into the December 7, 2023 CCCL explosion to give evidence.
Mr Marie stated that in the early hours of that morning he had driven through the area approximately five minutes before the explosion, while dropping off members of his staff in town. At the time, he observed very little movement and noticed nothing suspicious.
Upon returning home, he experienced fluctuations in the electricity supply, followed by a complete power outage. Soon afterwards, he received several telephone calls and WhatsApp messages informing him of a major explosion at CCCL. The news came as a particular shock, given that he had passed through the area only minutes earlier.
