State House warns of fake profiles

State House is alerting the public to several fraudulent social media profiles impersonating President Patrick Herminie and Vice-President Sebastien Pillay.

The fake accounts are reportedly contacting members of the public and falsely offering loans, housing assistance and other forms of support.

State House wishes to make it clear that neither President Herminie nor Vice-President Pillay contacts individuals through social media to offer loans, housing or financial assistance, and no one is authorised to do so on their behalf.

According to State House, these profiles are scams intended to deceive members of the public and obtain money or personal information.

The public is strongly advised to:

  • Not respond to or engage with such messages or profiles;
  • Never send money, pay so-called processing fees, or share personal, identity or banking information;
  • Report and block fake profiles on the relevant social media platform; and
  • Report any suspected fraud to the Seychelles Police Force.

State House further emphasised that all applications for housing and financial assistance are processed exclusively through the appropriate government ministries and agencies, in accordance with established official procedures.

It thanked the public for their vigilance and urged everyone to share the warning with family and friends, particularly elderly people and others who may be vulnerable to such scams.
