R5 fare for students without yellow bus card on school bus |16 October 2021
Effective from Monday October 18, all school students travelling on designated school buses without the valid yellow school bus card will pay a R5 fare, as compared to the R2 fare established years ago.
A notice to that effect was published by the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) earlier this week, on its social media platforms.
As for students using public transport without valid travel cards, namely, the green card which applies to routes where there are no school bus services and the red card applicable to students who are exempted from zoning or who use more than one bus to travel to and from their respective schools, the normal R12 fare will apply.
The increases in bus fares are in line with SPTC’s immediate strategy to go cashless, and integrate digital technologies within their operations.
