President Faure extends condolences to Tanzania

 

Following the tragic fuel tanker blast incident in Morogoro, Tanzania which has resulted the loss of many lives and left others injured, President Danny Faure has sent a message of condolence to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr John Magufuli.

President Faure conveyed: “In this very painful moment of national grief, the people and the government of Seychelles join me in extending our heartfelt condolences to you personally, to the people of Tanzania and to the families of the victims and everyone affected by this unprecedented tragedy.”

“We are confident that the strong spirit and determination of the people of Tanzania will serve as solid pillars in all of the efforts to restore a sense of normalcy and heal from this heartbreaking period,” added President Faure.

Tanzania President John Magufuli has declared three days of mourning and pleaded for people to stop risking their lives by stealing petrol.

Sixty-four people died when a fuel tanker exploded on Saturday. They were trying to recover fuel from the vehicle, which had overturned on a major road, when it exploded.

The incident occurred in Morogoro region, about 200 km (124 miles) west of the port city of Dar es Salaam, the country's commercial capital.
