Aaron Jean, a well-known Seychellois artist mainly for his acting career and his powerful voice, is set to launch his first solo album ‘En moman dan letan’ (‘A moment in time’) this coming week-end.
The album contains nine original songs of various genres and include cultural tracks of sega and moutya music, proudly featuring the tanbour sega.
The artist made sure to feature two of his favourite songs on the album – Sa Pti Parol of Patrick Victor and Ansanm Tanto of Raymond Clarisse.
The album will be launched this Saturday at Maison Marengo and will be sold at R150 on CD and R250 on pendrive.
Aaron shared that he started working on the album in November 2020. “It was during the pandemic and I was not singing in hotels like I used to do and was not doing anything musical. I took a step back and decided to put my thoughts into action which is to make an album. I had all the time to work on it and there was no disturbance. As a producer myself and in collaboration with Terry Rose we worked together on the album.”
The moments during the pandemic definitely inspired our artist. “’En Moman dan letan’ is an inspiration I got during the pandemic. For the song ‘Lemonn I ankor kontan ou’, I got inspired from people who lost their jobs and also for those we lost during the pandemic. I was also inspired by the experiences I gathered over the last ten years as an artist. I was introduced to different types of music and the songs on the album have been accompanied by live music from musicians,” shared the artist.
Aaron is a multitalented artist and has ventured into theatre, television, videography, sports, business and ICT/telecommunications.
“I was attracted by music at a very young age and joined the Mahé Chamber Choir in 2006 and from then I pursued my journey in the musical world.”
His first acting gig dated 2009 when he was cast in the musical show ‘Castor’. After that he performed in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and that was when he realised his potential to have his own album.
Other notable performances and collaborations of Aaron Jean include the songs ‘Non ou pa konnen – a duet with Antoinette Dodin on the compilation Lavwa Zil Compilation Album produced by Jean-Marc Volcy; Zoli Girl and Solin in the Patrick Victor Valentine’s Show; Ti annan en Letan and Mars Ver Bondye in the Tribute to David Philoe; Larm Dan Kabin Telefonn – a recorded single duet with Emily; Sa Pti Parol in Patrick Victor Valentine’s Show; Lekel Ki Pa Pare, an inspirational song commissioned by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Family and the theme song composed by Jean-Marc Volcy at the launch of ‘Lospitalite’ campaign by the department of Tourism.
