Seychelles sits among Europe's small states again

Ministers for health of small states of the European Region of the World Health Organisation (WHO) gathered for their 11th annual meeting from May 11 to 13 and for the third consecutive year, they extended an extraordinary invitation to Seychelles to join their discussions.

Health minister Peggy Vidot and principal secretary, Dr Bernard Valentin, were in Bled, Slovenia, to take part in this important consultation, which this year emphasised healthcare innovations. A key focus was WHO-Europe's Programme of Work for the period 2026-2030.

“Seychelles looks forward to the European small states meeting each year since we were first invited in Montenegro in 2023,” Minister Vidot expressed. “We often find that we share more common challenges and similarities with these small states than with many of our neighbouring countries,” she noted.

“Their approaches to health care challenges always provide us with valuable lessons.”
