Nouvobanq’s choir donates wheelchair to 10-year-old Carlos Victorine

In a moving ceremony held on Saturday at the Anse Boileau district administration office, Nouvobanq’s choir officially handed over a wheelchair to Carlos Victorine, a 10-year-old boy living with Myasthenia Gravis, a chronic autoimmune condition that causes severe muscle weakness and impacts daily mobility.

The initiative was part of Nouvobanq’s choir commitment to giving back to the community in tangible, meaningful ways. In identifying a cause that truly matters, the choir members sought the guidance of Liam’s Rainbow Foundation, a local charitable organisation working closely with families and children facing health challenges.

Carlos’ condition means that even simple activities like attending school or going outside can be physically exhausting. The wheelchair, funded through Nouvobanq’s choir winning third place in the Office Choir 2024 competition, will allow Carlos greater independence, freedom of movement, and a more inclusive childhood experience.

Speaking at the event, Octavie Berlouis, on behalf of Nouvobanq, shared how the bank’s team was deeply moved by Carlos’ story and wanted to go beyond financial support to make a lasting difference in his life.

“This is more than a donation — it is a symbol of hope, freedom, and inclusion. It will allow him to move independently, to attend school with ease, to play and participate in activities with his peers, and most importantly, to feel empowered.”

Erica Rangasamy, representing Liam’s Rainbow Foundation, expressed deep appreciation for the bank’s involvement and compassion. “This wheelchair is more than just mobility — it’s an opportunity. It brings dignity, independence, and peace of mind for Carlos’ mum. To Nouvobanq, your kindness is not just a gift to Carlos, it’s a message to every child like him: they are seen, valued, and supported.”

This donation serves as a reminder of what can be achieved when organisations take action guided by compassion, and when communities unite in support of one another.
