To commemorate its 30 years of existence, the La Retraite primary school yesterday planted 13 trees on the school’s compound in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Victoria.

Foram Varsani, the President of the Rotary Club of Victoria, explained that this year they are making an effort to incorporate schools into nature. “We are approaching different schools so we can plant fruit trees around the compounds. Our aim is for the students to learn the value of taking care of nature and to promote healthy living by having students harvest their own fruits and consume those as a healthier alternative to snacks,” said Ms Varsini.

Similar tree-planting activities have already taken place at the Perseverance primary and secondary schools, Anse Etoile primary school, Belonie secondary school, shared Ms Varsini, adding they will cover all schools in the country.
