Young researcher shares findings on Seychelles’ snakes

 

In a heartfelt tribute to the late environmentalist Katy Beaver, the Ministry of Education hosted the second Katy Beaver MemorialLecture at the National Theatre with young Seychellois researcher Brian Souyana sharing his research work on snakes in Seychelles.

The event was to honour the life and contributions of Katy Beaver, to inspire young people to engage in environmental conversations, and to showcase the scientific achievements of Seychellois youth.

Brian Souyana, who began his studies while at the University of Seychelles, presented his research on the density and distribution of Seychelles’ snake species and the effects of vegetation and invasive species on their population.
