We have often heard that becoming a teacher is not just any job, it is a calling; it is a role you play for life. Even if a teacher becomes part of a school's management team, the educator within never leaves.
Mary Poris is a former early childhood teacher who has taken the role of special needs coordinator (Senco), but she remains a true teacher at heart.
A school is made up of students with different learning abilities and disabilities. But, it is important that each child gets equal access to quality education even with their learning differences. I am sure many parents have heard of certain individuals at school being introduced as a Senco but yet have no idea what it means.
