Games’ mascot Alda is here
The mascot of the 13th Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien Games was introduced during a mini carnival in town on Saturday, adding a festive and colorful flair to the event.
This public unveiling featured traditional music, street performances, and local dances to celebrate the unity and cultural richness of the Indian Ocean islands.
The mascot, a whale named Alda, typically inspired by regional wildlife or cultural symbols, serves as a friendly and energetic ambassador for the Games, engaging the youth and representing the spirit of camaraderie and competition.
It was on May 24, during the official countdown ceremony to mark 70 days before the Games, that President Wavel Ramkalawan, alongside Vice‑President Ahmed Afif and other dignitaries, launched the event at L’Escale Resort. During this colourful ceremony — which included music, dance, cultural performances, and street‑style festivities, the mascot was introduced publicly for the first time.
