Illegal fishing remains a significant problem

Illegal lobster fishing remains a significant problem in Seychelles, the latest lobster fishing survey conducted by the Seychelles Fisheries Authority has revealed.
The results of the study were revealed during a validation workshop organised by the Seychelles Fisheries Authority (SFA), held at Savoy Resort & Spa, yesterday morning. According to Dr Ameer Ebrahim, consultant with The True Nature Conservancy (TNC), it is estimated that 10 percent of lobsters in Seychelles are caught illegally, with demand for the delicacy surpassing supply.
