Outgoing Cuban ambassador to Seychelles, Martha Hernández Caneiro, pays her farewell call on Speaker Azarel Ernesta
The outgoing Cuban ambassador to Seychelles, Martha Hernández Caneiro, paid a farewell call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Azarel Ernesta, on Thursday at the precinct of the assembly, Ile Du Port.
The ambassador was accompanied by Minister Counsellor Tomás Méndez Parra.
Present during the meeting was Clerk to the National Assembly, Tania Isaac.
Ambassador Hernández Caneiro noted that it was an honour to call on the first female Speaker of the National Assembly and pay her farewell, following her four-year mandate in Seychelles.
She also remarked that it was a most pleasant experience working with the people of Seychelles, immersing in the culture, and bringing the bilateral relations closer through her engagements.
Discussions turned to that of the Seychelles-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, with Speaker Ernesta affirming that the 8th Assembly would see the establishment of strengthened interparliamentary relations and cooperation through both the Membership and Service staff.
The ambassador extended an invitation to conduct a parliamentary exchange with the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power, with the aim of enhancing cultural ties, conducting benchmarking exercises, and deepening the relations between both parliaments.
Speaking on her tenure in Seychelles, Ambassador Hernández Caneiro discussed ongoing and historical initiatives such as developments in the field of health, as well as exchanges in culture and music. It was underscored that the incoming ambassador is anticipated to assume responsibility for such key strategic initiatives and actively drive their advancement, continuing the sustainable progress in areas of mutual interest.
Speaker Ernesta thanked the ambassador for her numerous contributions during her mission and wished her well on her return to Cuba. The fruitful meeting concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation, and a souvenir photograph.
