Chikungunya cases increase, health authorities urge precautions

Chikungunya cases have risen nationwide since mid-December, according to the Ministry of Health.
During a press conference at the Red Roof building yesterday afternoon, Public Health Commissioner Dr Jude Gedeon confirmed that while other arboviruses such as dengue and Zika are also present, Chikungunya has become the most prevalent. All three viruses share similar symptoms, including fever, rash, headaches, body aches, and joint pain. However, confirmatory testing conducted by the ministry has verified that the recent surge is primarily due to Chikungunya, with dengue and Zika remaining at comparatively lower levels.
