Celebrating women’s leadership in Seychelles’ modernisation and China partnership

In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, the Chinese embassy in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, Veronique Herminie, hosted a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Women’s Contribution to Seychelles’ Modernisation and the China-Seychelles Friendship’ at the Chinese ambassador’s residence, Sans Soucis.
The event, held on Tuesday, brought together prominent leaders including Chinese Ambassador Lin Nan; First Lady Veronique Herminie; Minister for Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation Veronique Laporte; leader of government business in the National Assembly Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel; principal secretaries Elizabeth Agathine (Economic Planning), Natalie Edmond (Trade), and Sherin Francis (Tourism); alongside civil society representatives such as Rose-Mary Lee Bluemner, chairperson of the Chinese Association of Seychelles; Jianmei Zhang, director of the Confucius Institute, and Dr Jiang Yiming of the Chinese Medical Team.
