Minister’s message on World Social Work Day 2026

Minister Charlette

‘Together for inclusion, unity, and compassion’

“Today, as we commemorate World Social Work Day 2026, we unite under the theme: ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’.

“This year’s theme serves as a powerful reminder that social wellbeing is not the responsibility of a single profession, institution, or individual. Instead, it is a shared commitment. Such is built when government, social workers, families, communities, and all partners work together with compassion, accountability, and mutual respect.

“In Seychelles, solidarity has always been one of our greatest strengths. It is through listening, supporting, and acting collectively that we can create a meaningful and lasting change.

“Today, I reaffirm the enduring spirit of government commitment to unity, inclusion, and the protection of the most vulnerable members of our society. As we mark World Social Work Day 2026, let us continue to collaborate, to innovate, and to uphold the values that define us as a nation. Together, let us build hope, promote harmony, and create a stronger Seychelles for present and future generations.

“On this important occasion, I extend my sincere appreciation to our dedicated social workers and community partners. Your tireless efforts strengthen families, safeguard children, support our elderly and persons in need, and contribute significantly to building a more just, resilient, and caring society. Your professionalism, empathy, and unwavering dedication embody the very essence of this year’s theme.

“To conclude, I would like to again extend my heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you for your dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to serving our communities. May you continue to be inspired in the work that you do each day.

“I wish you all a Happy World Social Work Day 2026. Thank you.”
