Unauthorised anchoring threatens coral recovery in Curieuse

The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority has reported serious damage to coral restoration sites at Baie Laraie and Anse Papaie in Curieuse Marine Park, caused by unauthorised anchoring directly on the reef.

The sites, popular snorkelling spots during the northwest monsoon, have seen restoration structures such as reef stars, re-bars, and recycled fish trap frames flipped or broken, setting back months of conservation work.

To protect these fragile ecosystems, the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA) has installed new demarcation buoys and is urging boat operators and visitors to respect designated mooring and anchoring zones.
