The blaze, which spread across approximately 20 hectares of forest in Kan Per, Fond Lalarez, Fond Azore, Fond Ferdinand, and Glacis Noire, was extinguished thanks to the coordinated efforts of more than 35 firefighters, supported by military personnel, the Department of Environment, and local volunteers.
Evacuation measures were swiftly implemented to protect nearby residents. Three individuals sustained injuries during the incident but are reported to be in stable condition. All evacuees have since returned to their homes.
The National Emergency Operations Centre has now stood down, confirming the situation is fully under control. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and authorities will release further details once inquiries are concluded.
The SFRSA has pledged to strengthen fire prevention strategies, including public awareness campaigns and enhanced monitoring systems. The agency commended the bravery and dedication of all those involved in safeguarding communities and preserving the environment.
