50 trees planted for Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee |09 May 2026

The Landscape and Waste Management Agency (LWMA), in partnership with the Office of the Mayor of Victoria, hosted a commemorative Lanbelisaz tree-planting ceremony yesterday morning to mark Seychelles’ 50th Independence Jubilee.
The event was graced by President Patrick Herminie, Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, Minister for Tourism and Culture Amanda Bernstein, Mayor of Victoria Josy Michaud-Payette, along with dignitaries, students, and community representatives.
A total of 50 trees were planted by officials and partners, symbolising each year of independence. The initiative sought to enhance Victoria’s urban landscape while reinforcing national commitments to environmental sustainability and community beautification.
