The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) officially launched the National Comesa Electronic Certificate of Origin (eCO) on Wednesday at L’Éscale Resort Marina and Spa.
The eCO system is a digital platform designed to streamline trade procedures by enabling exporters, authorised applicants, and Designated Issuing Authorities (DIAs) to register, submit, review, approve, and track Certificates of Origin electronically. By automating key processes and maintaining secure digital records, the system enhances transparency, efficiency, and compliance with the Comesa Protocol on Rules of Origin, supporting regional trade integration and preferential tariff arrangements.
Principal secretary for Trade and Investment, Natalie Edmond, described the launch as part of Seychelles’ broader agenda to modernise public service delivery through digital innovation.
“It reflects our commitment to enhancing efficiency, strengthening governance, increasing revenue mobilisation, promoting transparency, and advancing the country’s digital economy,” she said.
Commissioner of Customs Paul Barrack noted that Seychelles was honoured to be selected in 2023 as one of the pilot countries for the Comesa eCO initiative.
