President’s Village reopens modern library to inspire young minds |22 July 2026

The President’s Village modern library reopened yesterday morning at Port Glaud after years of closure, in a ribbon‑cutting ceremony led by First Lady Veronique Herminie and National Council for Children chief executive Yasmin Umarji.

The project, sponsored by Constance Ephelia Hotel, took about six months and cost between R250,000 and R300,000. Expenses covered raw materials, while renovation and maintenance were carried out by contractors, subcontractors, and even some of Ephelia’s staff.

Director of the President’s Village, Ted Arrisol, said the initiative will make a real difference in the lives of children. “Now the children can gain knowledge in various ways – through reading, the internet, and media we will expose them to,” he explained.
