Defence and Security Committee holds talks with SDF |24 July 2026

The Defence and Security Committee (DSC), led by vice‑chairperson Hon. Wilbert Herminie, held an introductory meeting with Major General Michael Rosette at the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) headquarters, Bel Eau, on Friday, July 17, 2026.
The meeting formed part of the Committee’s ongoing efforts to strengthen parliamentary oversight and foster collaboration with key government institutions.
Hon. Herminie was accompanied by Committee members Hon. Audrey Vidot, Hon. Gervais Henrie, Hon. François Adelaide, and Hon. Dominic Savy, with support from committee clerks Florette Monnaie and Michelle Cupidon.
The SDF delegation included Brigadier General Jean Atala, Lieutenant Colonel Archil Mondon, and section heads from across the Force.
Presentations and dialogue
Delegation members delivered presentations outlining the functions, priorities, and current activities of their respective sections, offering valuable insights into ongoing programmes and policy areas under the Major General’s purview.
In his remarks, Hon. Herminie presented an overview of the Committee’s mandate, stressing its role in scrutinising ministries and stakeholders under its purview, ensuring accountability, and supporting transparent governance. Committee members posed a series of questions, with the SDF delegation providing detailed responses and clarifications on matters of interest.
Commitment to oversight
The DSC reaffirmed its commitment to effective parliamentary oversight and looks forward to continued engagement with the SDF in strengthening national defence and security governance.
