Sri Lanka and Seychelles: Two islands, one vision, endless possibilities
Q: Can you tell us about the Sri Lanka Seychelles Association (SSA)?
The SSA represents a journey that began nearly four decades ago. The Sri Lankan community in Seychelles first came together informally around 1986, when families and friends organised small gatherings to celebrate Sri Lankan traditions, culture, and entertainment. These gatherings strengthened bonds within the community and laid the foundation for something greater.
After years of dedicated effort by community leaders and past presidents, the association was officially registered in 2005, creating a recognised platform to represent Sri Lankans in Seychelles.
Today, SSA continues to build on that foundation. We honour the vision and hard work of those who came before us, while taking responsibility to elevate the association for future generations. Our aim is not only to unite the Sri Lankan community but also to strengthen the friendship between Sri Lanka and Seychelles through culture, education, sports, charity, and meaningful partnerships.
