Comedy meets State House: Daliso Chaponda pays courtesy call on President Herminie

Internationally acclaimed comedian, writer, and radio host Daliso Chaponda, best known as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2017, paid a courtesy call on President Patrick Herminie at State House yesterday morning. Chaponda, who is back in Seychelles for his live comedy special Daliso Round Two taking place this evening, discussed his ongoing engagement with Seychellois youth and his passion for live entertainment.
Born in Zambia in 1979 to Malawian parents, Chaponda began his comedy career in Canada before moving to the United Kingdom in 2006, where he established himself on the comedy circuit and supported renowned comedian John Bishop. His breakthrough came on Britain’s Got Talent, where he finished third after earning a Golden Buzzer from judge Amanda Holden. Since then, he has built a successful international career, hosting the Rose d’Or-nominated BBC Radio 4 series Daliso Chaponda: Citizen of Nowhere and performing at leading comedy festivals in Edinburgh, Melbourne, Singapore, and Cape Town.
