In memory of Ambassador Dick Esparon

“It is with a heavy heart that I learned of the passing of my dear friend and long-time colleague, Ambassador Dick Esparon, following a long illness.

“Dick dedicated his life to the service of Seychelles and to our party. He served with distinction as an elected member of the National Assembly for many years, representing his constituents with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the people he served.

“I had the privilege of appointing him to represent our nation on the world stage as Ambassador, a role in which he served with great skill and dignity in a number of countries. Among his many accomplishments, I recall with particular pride his work in establishing our embassy in the United Arab Emirates from the ground up, laying a foundation that continues to serve our nation’s interests in the region to this day.

“Beyond his professional achievements, Dick was a loyal party member, a trusted colleague, and a genuine friend. His warmth, his steady counsel, and his devotion to Seychelles will be remembered by all who had the honour of working alongside him.

“My thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, his loved ones, and all who mourn his passing. May he rest in peace.”
