Police witnesses outline delays, missing reports in CCCL probe   |26 September 2026

The Commission of Inquiry into the CCCL explosion continued hearing evidence from police officers this week, with testimony highlighting concerns over investigative procedures, missing documentation and regulatory oversight.

Superintendent Jeffery Antoine

Superintendent Jeffery Antoine, who was the Commanding Officer of Detective Services at the time and had oversight of the investigation, recounted being awakened at about 2.15am on December 7, 2023, by a call from the Central Command Centre. He was initially informed that sounds had been heard from the UCPS area. Minutes later, a powerful blast shook his home.
