COVID-19 - No public and indoor assemblies |24 March 2020
The Infectious Disease (Prohibition of Public Assemblies) Order 2020 notice published in the Official Gazette
People in Seychelles are hereby directed to refrain from engaging in or taking part in public assemblies or indoor public assemblies as of March 20, 2020.
This follows the publication of the Infectious Disease (Prohibition of Public Assemblies) Order 2020 notice in the Official Gazette on March 20, 2020 by the public health commissioner declaring a public health emergency in Seychelles and directing all persons to comply with the direction and orders issued by the public health authorities and cooperate with the public health authorities in preventing and containing the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In the opinion of the public health commissioner, the declaration of the public health emergency and the incidence of COVID-19 as an infectious disease renders it necessary to prohibit all public assemblies and all indoor public assemblies in the whole of Seychelles.
Meanwhile, the number of positive COVID-19 cases remains at seven and this is for a fourth day running.
All seven people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are receiving treatment at the isolation centre at the Family Hospital, in Persévérance.
One person in isolation for nine days has been retested and the test is negative; this person will be tested in 24 to 48 hours. If the result remains negative, the person will be considered for discharge.
All patients remain stable except one who is in critical but stable condition.
Eight patients who were under investigation have tested negative and there are two patients undergoing further investigations.
There are 24 persons in quarantine at the two facilities and 51 others are in home quarantine as per public health guidelines, with appropriate follow-up from surveillance team and the support of law enforcement.
Contact tracing continues to follow up on the contacts.
All 52 passengers who were repatriated from Mauritius yesterday on board a special Air Seychelles flight were to be taken to a designated quarantine centre where they will remain for 14 days.
