‘Ou menm sa enn’ registers more than 1 million viewers |22 April 2020

To celebrate its two months online, the YouTube clip ‘Ou menm sa enn’ by our famous Seychellois singer Elijah and the famous Mauritian singer Linzy Bacbotte had 1,021,157 views as of Monday this week.
This video clip, which was shot in Seychelles by Paradise Media and launched online on February 20, 2020 (20.02.2020) immediately caught the attention of internet users.
Seychelles NATION had a chat with Elijah and he was quite happy and excited to note that the clip had reached more than a million viewers in two months only. “This song ‘Ou menm sa enn’ is a collaboration with the famous artist from Mauritius Linzy Bacbotte. We released the song on the eve of Valentine’s Day and then we filmed the song when Linzy was in Seychelles for a show. The lyrics were put together by Linzy and myself and the music was by Daryl Canaya from Dareal Thing Rechords. The video shoot was directed by Johny Volcère. After the recording, we officially launched the clip on the YouTube platform on 20.02.2020.”
The response the clip got from viewers is faster than the clip ‘Donn li son Coco’ again by Elijah. “With my previous song ‘Donn li son Coco’ it took almost three to four months to hit the one million viewers. My dream is to always do better and go forward. I would not have been able to do this without the support of my family and my fans in Seychelles and everywhere in the world,” Elijah said.
Speaking about his collaboration with the artists from Mauritius, Elijah said that through these collaborations, he got introduced to new markets in Europe and Australia.
“Seychelles has only 90,000 people with 200 artists. We are all working in the same market and our fans follow different artists at the same time. Among ourselves we keep encouraging each other and get inspired by each other. We want to flood the market with music but we also want to tap into the international market. Mauritius is similar to Seychelles as they have people living in Europe and Australia just like us. So collaborating with them can only bring out the best and get the Indian Ocean music known worldwide.”
Seychelles NATION was able to reach Linzy Bacbotte by phone and this was her reaction:
“Yes more than 1 million views, I am very surprised and excited. I did not expect that. But hey, everything happens for a very good reason right! So I am just enjoying it as much as the fans are. My collaboration with Elijah was totally not planned. We discussed the project a day prior for recording and we recorded it and did the video shoot in four days as I was in Seychelles. Yeah we were really surprised how the people reacted to the teaser and the way things went. Collaborating for the lyrics was very natural for me. I was there for Valentine’s Day and I guess everybody was in the mood of love and the lyrics just came – ‘Ou menm sa enn’. Elijah gave the first lyrics and melody and we built on that.”
Linzy Bacbotte also said she would love to collaborate more with Seychellois. “Mo ti mari kontan parski enn nou koz menm kreol e apre nou mari apresye nou kanmarad. Seselwa ek Morisyen parey enn sel. Ena bokou fanmiy morisyen ki reste dan Sesel alors pourkwa pa kontinyen sa kolaborasyon la ! »
Elijah cannot stop thanking his fans based in Seychelles and elsewhere and said that his achievements in life are because of his fans and family.
