Seychelles ranks 4th worldwide for Covid-19 vaccination

Seychelles is ranked 4th worldwide for Covid-19 vaccinations, according to the site ‘Our World in Data’.

The accompanying graph illustrates mainly data as of January 15 to 18, 2021.

On the list, we have Israel with almost 32% of its population vaccinated followed by United Arab Emirates with almost 21%, Bahrain with 8.4% and Seychelles is at the fourth position with 7.1%. The United Kingdom follows closely with 7%. The US is at 4.8%

The number of cases keep growing daily and currently worldwide as of January 19, ninety-four million, one hundred and twenty-four thousand six hundred and twelve (94,124,612) cumulative cases have been recorded with 2,034,527 cumulative deaths.

According to Our World in Data, to bring this pandemic to an end, a large share of the world needs to be immune to the virus. The safest way to achieve this is with a vaccine. Vaccines are a technology that humanity has often relied on in the past to bring down the death toll of infectious diseases.

“Within less than 12 months after the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, several research teams rose to the challenge and developed vaccines that protect from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. Now the challenge is to make these vaccines available to people around the world. It will be key that people in all countries – not just in rich countries – receive the required protection. To track this effort we at Our World in Data are building the international Covid-19 vaccination dataset that we make available on this page,” the site explains.

Seychelles started the vaccination campaign on January 10 and during those ten days over 11,000 people have received the jab.

In order to combat this fight, we all have to keep adhering to the health regulations such as washing our hands regularly, wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. Seychelles can be the first country in the world to get most of its population vaccinated. Let’s go for it!
