The Ministry of Health’s most recent update on the Covid-19 pandemic in the country shows that the level of community transmissions remains higher than the pre-surge level, with three additional deaths this month.

The deaths occurred during the first and third weeks of August and bring the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country to 104.

As reported by the ministry yesterday, there are 581 active cases of Covid-19 of which 557 cases are on Mahé, 15 on Praslin and nine cases on La Digue.

Consistent with the increase of Covid-19 cases, the seven-day moving average has increased to around 60.

The cumulative total of Covid-19 cases stands at almost 19,592 out of which 18,909 have recovered.

The health ministry continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and adhere to public health measures such as proper wearing of face masks to prevent a new surge in cases.
