Universal Peace Federation Seychelles condemns incident of premature baby found at Plaisance |03 November 2021

Following the announcement on October 26, 2021 that the body of a premature child was found in the district of Plaisance, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) – Seychelles has condemned the incident in its entirety.

This follows a recent similar one at Beau Bel a few weeks ago.

A statement on the incident from the chairperson of UPF-Seychelles, Roger Alphonse, reads:

“Once again the population is in shock and in mourning for the loss of yet another innocent life… Is this becoming a norm/trend in our little country? Is it a wake-up call to all other issues that are taking place around us? Do we need to have a more critical approach towards the happenings and be more analytic before jumping to a final conclusion? This is important because there are many factors that can contribute to hasty decisions in relation to social ills within our society.

Could it be because of excess use of alcohol, illicit drugs, social conditions, inadequate assistance or follow up of concerned departments amid inadequate psychological support and/or lack of awareness from the local district clinics? All of these are important questions that need to be answered. However the Universal Peace Federation – Seychelles, that ‘lives for the sake of others’ and stands as one family under God, strongly condemns the incident.

“Once again we join other organisations responsible for family matters in our country, to lend a helping hand to better our society. If need be, let us revive our tradition ‘caring for our neighbour(s), as neighbourhood critical watch - saves life’.”
