Covid-19 update

Community transmission continues

Days before the end of the year 2021 Seychelles continues to experience community transmission of Covid- 19.

Presently there are 432 active cases (100 more than a week ago) in the country and the seven-day rolling average is 47, an increase of 15 compared to a week ago.

The trend shows a steady increase in daily number of cases this past week. Admission with serious or severe illness is mostly in the unvaccinated.

It is more important than ever for the population to sustain effort to reduce transmission through preventive measures.

Vaccination remains one of the most important tools to prevent severe disease and death. Those not vaccinated yet are called upon to come forward for the vaccine to protect themselves and their loved ones. The third dose of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine is being offered to every Seychellois and residents above 18 years old.

The accompanying graph shows the seven-day moving average from May 1 to December 27, 2021.
